Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What do you do with my data? Is it safe?

A: We follow cyber security best practices and secure your data with bank-level encryption software. InsourceRx has no admin or right access to your business data or accounts. We read your data and run it through our internal algorithms to determine PBM performance metrics. We do not outsource your data to third parties and will never sell your data.

Q: What is the difference between your support levels?

A: Our support levels are explained below.

Standard Support

This plan provides email and live chat support during local business hours as well as unlimited access to the InsourceRx Knowledge Center. Target response time for any support request will be eight (8) Business Hours. “Business Hour” means a period of 60 minutes between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time (Monday – Friday). Q: What is Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)?

A: Data is accessible using SaaS, a technique for delivering software, from any device with an internet connection and a web browser. The servers, databases, and code that make up an application are hosted and maintained by software providers (i.e., InsourceRx) in this web-based architecture.

Q: How can I check compatibility?

Evaluation of PBM performance must go beyond simple spreadsheet comparisons of “guaranteed” pharmacy discount rates, administrative fees, and manufacturer rebates. The pharmacy benefit optimization platform that enables HR, finance, broker, and consulting teams, InsourceRx, allows you to continue using your current Excel financial models and spreadsheets while automating tedious tasks.

Q: Why do I need your software solution?

A: There are several reasons you need our software solution. Most importantly, you can’t rely solely on what is being reported by your pharmacy benefit manager (PBM). A prudent broker or consultant performs their own due diligence. We make that process faster, easier, and more accurate.

Contract Management

In as little as 3 minutes, the automated procedure from InsourceRx will assess how well your contract (BER, GER etc.) is actually working. You can repeat the process as often as you like, and results are stored until you delete them.

Contract Variance

Analyze brand and generic claims in all channels for over and underperformance. Quickly and easily identify potential cost offsets.

Product Mix

A key driver of pharmacy costs. Automate the assessment of product mix to catch problems early. Benchmark against high performing plans.

Utilization Management

Evaluate channel mix, number of utilizers, and days supply, for example, to understand how each impacts plan performance.

Scenario Analysis

Evaluate possible events or scenarios that could take place in the future and predict the various feasible results or possible outcomes.

Data & Reporting

Produce monthly, quarterly, or annual reconciliation reports, based upon original manufacturer reported prices, in as little as 3 minutes.

Q: Does your platform integrate with other software and tools?

This goes along with compatibility, but sometimes people don’t want to have to check themselves or even think about it. They want to know what your software works with and whether it will be compatible with their existing suite of tools and technology. Make sure that you provide a list of the most common tools your software can work with and then invite people to reach out regarding specific integrations if they need something that isn’t on the list.

Q: What experience and education do you have?

A: Our technology platform, InsourceRx, combines clinical knowledge with over 275 proprietary claim scanning algorithms and AI to deliver actionable pharmaceutical benefit intelligence. The InsourceRx do-it-yourself SaaS data analytics platform focuses on offering contract integrity solutions, clinical program management, and pharmacy claims insights. A group of pharmacists, IT, data science, and pharmacy benefit management experts founded InsourceRx with the goal of assisting unions, health plans, health systems, commercial and public sector employers in maximizing the benefits of their pharmacy benefit plans by assisting them in identifying, correcting, and continuously monitoring prescription claims data.

Q: How do you protect client data?

A: Within InsourceRx, cloud storage and data security are big topics. People like the idea of being more hands-off with their data and knowing things are stored safely somewhere else and being managed by someone whose job it is to provide secure data storage. With AWS, we take advantage of a scalable, reliable, and secure global computing infrastructure, the virtual backbone of Amazon.com’s multi-billion dollar online business that has been honed for over a decade. AWS utilizes an end-to-end approach to secure and harden our infrastructure, including physical, operational, and software measures.

Q: What’s the difference between software-as-a-service and the cloud?

A: Although SaaS and cloud computing share many characteristics, they also differ in a few key ways. First off, you might argue that while SaaS may exist without the cloud, the cloud is necessary for SaaS to exist. This indicates that compared to SaaS, the cloud provides more capability and flexibility. SaaS mandates that you only use their product in the manner that the third party intended. Another significant distinction between SaaS and the cloud is that the cloud allows users greater control over how they manage and store their data while also keeping it more private. You effectively provide your data to a third-party SaaS provider when you store it with them. Although it's not always a drawback, the fact that your data is kept in their platform. But there are benefits to using a third-party provider. A software platform, like InsourceRx, can often handle everything for small enterprises and those with modest IT expertise.

A: What are your policies and procedures regarding data storage?

Q: We take data security safe at InsourceRx. Our servers are hosted in a world class data center that is protected by 24 hour surveillance and we ensure our SaaS platform is always up to date with the latest security patches.

Title: IT Data Storage Policy
Department: IT Version: Original
Approved by: Rishi Kalia Approval Date: 12/31/2022
Senior Management Approval: Tyrone Squires
Effective Date: 1/1/2023 Last Updated: 12/31/2022
Scope

This policy applies to InsourceRx employees, contractors, consultants, temporary workers and all other individuals storing, using or accessing InsourceRx data and information, whether in electronic or hard copy formats. This policy applies to data storage activities that are on premises, as well as remotely managed using cloud-based or company-managed storage technology.

Responsibility

The InsourceRx IT department is responsible for maintaining and updating this policy with the approval of the chief information officer or chief technology officer.

Objectives

The objective of this policy is to define how data – both electronic and hard-copy – will be stored in such a way to protect it, and ensure its security and availability, in accordance with established data management policy and in compliance with applicable laws, standards and good practice.

Purpose

InsourceRx’s purpose for data storage is to ensure that all data and information – in electronic or hard-copy form – needed by InsourceRx in the performance of its work are stored in a secure repository when not in current use or when archived for future use, such that they are available when needed, are accessible and usable by InsourceRx staff, and are maintained in secure, protected environments until they are retrieved for use, archived or destroyed.

The focus of data storage management is to meet the legal requirements for record retention and privacy protection, optimize the use of space, minimize the cost of record retention, and destroy outdated records.

Policy

InsourceRx requires that its data and information – whether in electronic or hard-copy formats – are stored in a secure manner and be managed so that the company:

  1. Meets legal standards for data storage, retrieval and protection.
  2. Establishes procedures for data storage activities, delivers them to all employees, provides training on the policy as part of the new employee onboarding, provides refresher training as needed, and reviews and updates the procedures as needed.
  3. Protects the data privacy of employees, customers and others as required by law.
  4. Optimizes the use of primary data storage facilities to facilitate the timely and secure retrieval of data from storage when needed.
  5. Establishes rules for the use of employee-owned storage devices and monitors that usage.
  6. Addresses security issues associated with data storage on company-owned facilities and third-party managed storage services, as well as employee-owned storage devices, to minimize the potential for unauthorized access to company data and information.
  7. Plans for and budgets for data storage technology, whether on site or remote.
  8. Regularly reviews and adjusts its data storage facilities – both on site and remote – to promptly accommodate changes in storage requirements.

InsourceRx may designate an employee to serve as data storage manager; this employee is most likely to be part of the IT department.

InsourceRx departments that generate data and information are responsible for establishing appropriate data storage requirements in coordination with the InsourceRx data storage manager. Each department's administrative manager or a designee must:

  1. Be familiar with InsourceRx’s data storage policy.
  2. Develop the department's and/or office's data storage requirements, consistent with this policy.
  3. Educate staff within the department so they understand data storage practices.
  4. Define storage requirements for confidential data and information.
Confidentiality Requirement

Some InsourceRx data and information may contain nonpublic confidential data. Such data and information are protected by federal, state and local statutes, including the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and others. In addition to statutory requirements, any confidential data should be stored in accordance with InsourceRx’s privacy and security policies.

Electronically Stored Information

InsourceRx depends on the use and availability of electronically stored information (ESI). The ease with which ESI may be created, the technology where ESI may be stored, and rules regarding the use of ESI in litigation all require that InsourceRx manages its data storage activities efficiently and consistent with its legal obligations. Accordingly, all departments must include ESI in the development of their data storage requirements.

Non-Electronic Information Storage

InsourceRx stores important hard-copy documents in secure, fire-protected storage containers, whether located on site or in secure remote storage facilities. The point at which such information is to be placed into storage and the type of storage to be used are determined by the document's user(s), in collaboration with the data storage manager and/or records manager.

Storage of Data and Information Relevant to Legal Matters

Any data record and other information that is relevant to any pending or anticipated litigation, claim, audit, agency charge, investigation or enforcement action shall be securely stored and retained at least until final resolution of the matter. In these circumstances, the InsourceRx general counsel will notify relevant departments and work with staff to identify and store records (including electronic records) and other information that could be relevant to the litigation. Employees who become aware that an investigation or legal proceeding has commenced or is anticipated against their department or unit promptly must notify their InsourceRx department leadership and/or general counsel so that all records with potential relevance to the investigation or legal proceeding can be stored as necessary.

Disposal and Destruction of Stored Data and Information

The company's data retention policy and/or records management policy will govern the circumstances under which stored data and information can be disposed of and destroyed.

Enforcement

InsourceRx employees, vendors and others who do not comply with this policy and the procedures that may be developed from it are subject to possible disciplinary measures including termination of employment as may be determined by InsourceRx’s senior management, department leadership, chief information officer and/or human resources departments.

Management Review

InsourceRx’s executives will review and update policies on an annual basis, or more frequently when changes are authorized. As changes to InsourceRx policies are indicated in the course of business, InsourceRx management may launch a change management initiative to change them. All InsourceRx policies will be available for review in the course of scheduled audits.

Q: What kinds of payment do you accept?

A: PayPal gives you more payment options at checkout. With PayPal you can pay with credit and debit cards including MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express, bank transfers and phone payments. You do not need to create an account; however, it may be easier to manage your account should you do so.

Q: What are your fees and how are they charged?

A: Fees are as low as $499 USD/user/month for our enterprise level package up to $699 USD/user/month for individual licenses. Our subscriptions are billed monthly with other services available on an as-needed basis. We offer a free demo.

Q: Can I cancel at any time?

A: We offer a 14-day money back guarantee. If for any reason you decide to cancel, within 14 days, we will refund your payment in full no questions asked. After 14 days there are no refunds.

Q: Are there any discounts?

A: Yes, discounts are based solely on the number of licenses (users) purchased. Discounts start at 10 annual licenses.

Q: Are there any setup fees?

A: There are no set up fees or hidden charges with any of our account plans. We offer a 14-day money back guarantee. If for any reason you decide to cancel, within 14 days, we will refund your payment in full no questions asked. After 14 days, there are no refunds.

Q: What is your source file for pricing?

A: We use the RED BOOK which includes pricing information on over 300,000 prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals, chemicals and medical devices and supplies. RED BOOK is a widely accepted benchmark price for drug payers. InsourceRx determines prescription prices using the average wholesale pricing (AWP) available in the data file versions of RED BOOK.

Q: How large of a file can I upload for analysis?

A: Our platform will accept only CSV file formats. Excel limits the number of rows to one million and so does the InsourceRx SaaS platform.

Q: Why has my file stopped processing before 100%?

A: The most likely culprit is a file mapping issued. Delete all columns in your file except for those fields we request. Then double check to make sure the information below each data header is accurate (i.e. AWP total vs. unit price).

Q: What is continuous monitoring?

A: Monitoring PBM performance on a regular basis, ideally monthly but no more than quarterly. If you wait until the year-end report, you'll probably overlook important details that, if discovered earlier, may have saved your firm a lot of money over the course of the year. Employers, or multi-employer organizations, are strongly advised to spot these things as they occur and correct their course as necessary.

Q: Is there a difference in the reported AWP between Redbook and Medi-Span?

A: There is no statistically significant difference in the reported pricing by Redbook and Medi-Span. Both are definitive sources for US drug prices.

Q: What is RxNav?

A: RxNav is a browser for several drug information sources, including RxNorm, RxTerms and MED-RT. RxNav finds drugs in RxNorm from the names and codes in its constituent vocabularies. RxNav displays links from clinical drugs, both branded and generic, to their active ingredients, drug components and related brand names.

Q: What is MedlinePlus?

A: MedlinePlus is an online information service produced by the United States National Library of Medicine. The service provides curated consumer health information in English and Spanish with select content in additional languages.

Q: Is InsourceRx HIPAA compliant?

A: The InsourceRx platform does not require nor request any personal health information (PHI).
